But their delight is in the Law of the LORD

Who are we listening to? Each day as we go through life there are many messaged that we hear. They may be conveyed through political pundits, celebrities, music, movies, friends, relatives, etc. The messages that we hear may be subliminal or straight forward. One can easily be lead accept and walk in the counsel of these messages.
The question that should be asked is who is providing the counsel? Is the person who delivers the message righteous or wicked? Even if the message sounds right, if the voice that bears the message is not conformed to the righteousness of Christ then the counsel is dangerous.
When Satan tempted Christ he presented him with facts that were true. Certainly, Jesus could have turned the stone into bread. In and of itself there was nothing wrong with it. He had not eaten for forty days. It would seem like a justifiable rational action to take. However if he would have complied he would have walked in the council of the wicked.
Satan had the audacity to counsel Christ by quoting scripture. He told him to throw himself off the mountain and gave scriptural justification. Yes, Jesus could have thrown himself off of the mountain and walked away without a scratch. However he would have yield to Satan’s temptation and commands. This would mean that Christ would now be a follower of Satan. Satan would have been his master.
Christ responded to each temptation with the scripture and refused to walk in the counsel of the wicked. It is important to study the scriptures, to think about them day and night. Following the example of Christ, we can be prepared to respond and to avoid the counsel of the wicked. Christ is the author of the scriptures. If Satan had no problem coming after Christ with his own words then, you know he has not problem using the scripture in the messages he sends through the voices of his servants.
